Bombardier has entered into a definitive agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) to acquire the assets of MHI Canada Aerospace Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario.
Expected to close before the end of the year pending regulatory approval and standard conditions, the transaction brings a workforce of 750 employees directly into Bombardier’s operations. The acquired infrastructure includes a large manufacturing plant and an adjacent distribution center, which specialize in constructing wings, fuselage sections and primary flight controls for business aircraft platforms.
By internalizing operations at the Ontario site, the aerospace manufacturer aims to strengthen its internal supply chain and expand overall manufacturing bandwidth for its Global 5500, Global 6500 and Challenger 3500 jet programs.
Company leaders emphasized that bringing these essential component operations in-house supports long-term growth objectives, improves operational flexibility and reinforces workforce development within regional aircraft assembly hubs. Both parent entities confirmed they will collaborate closely throughout the transition period to preserve uninterrupted assembly output across active production lines.
